Akira Kurusawa

If you don't know who he is, you probably should....

Scott mentioned that we need to do some screening at the school just of movies...just so people can be exposed to some of the great old films that are out there. Here's a scene from Kurusawa's "Dreams". The film is a collection of a couple short stories and this on is about Vincent Van Gogh. Props goes to anyone who can name who the actor is playing Van Gogh!

Akira KUROSAWA is one of the only 5 geniuses the Art of Cinema had produced.
Nearly each of Kurosawa's film are a masterclass of what cinema should be.
for instance:
Ran, Kagemusha, High and Low, Rashomon, Sanjuro (and Yojimbo), Dodes'kaden, Akahige, The Throne of Blood, Ikiru, The Hidden Fortress... are absolut masterpieces of art, intelligence and integrity.
Of course we should not forget the legendary "The Seven samourais"...
