PIxar Zoetrope on display...

I bet you've all heard of the real life 3d zoetrope that a handful of pixar artists made for the pixar moma exhibit. I think it's actually on display at "California Adventure"...at least that's what Cartoon Brew says. Anyways, I did a bit of research and came up with an awesome quicktime of it on Victor Navone's blog. Here's a direct link:

"Thief and the Cobbler" and Costume Carnival!!!

Hey kids,

Okay, on Friday, October 19th, we are showing the uncut Richard William's "The Thief and the Cobbler"! ...yeah I know finally. Showing to be held at 540 Powell, in Bradley "Babs" Hall at 7:30pm.

And coming up is COSTUME CARNIVAL, on OCTOBER 27TH!

That means I needs some suckers....I mean kind hearted volunteers to help with set up on Friday, October 26th! The theme is Halloween, which makes it easy on us all, as we have all of that stuff here at Powell. I swear for all volunteers I will go out and get some decent food for us all. So email me if you want to help set up!

Thanks everyone!

Wall-E Postcards...

The Thief and the Cobbler

Here's some info about the screening we're going to be doing soon:

http://forums.awn.com/showthread.php?t=5252

Needless to say, when I downloaded this off of bitTorrent I had no idea it would be so hard to get now. As far as I know it's no longer available. The copy I have is in incredible shape and is well restored. It's a shame Mirimax doesn't seriously try to restore and re-edit the film as I'm sure the response would be huge. For now we'll just have to settle for this copy.

The film has a lot of storyboards and rough animation spaced throughout the finished animation from the film. It's an incredible illustration of all the work put into the project and the work flow they used.

Screening should be coming up soon!

I wanna banana!!

Here's an old monkey that I drew. He's a boy monkey if you can't tell.

Victor Navone...

Creator of Alien Song. A really great animator with a pretty informative blog. Check out this post on including 3 speeds of animation in every shot...

Here's another one I check pretty much every week:

Lalaland...

A beautiful film. A lot of procedural based animations, but very moving nonetheless. Beautiful colors and really fantastic music.
