Brian Froud- Faerie Lord

One of my all time favorite artists. He is most known for his work with Jim Henson in films The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. A concept artist before such a term was part of the film lexicon.
His work is simply amazing. Here are some samples I lifted. Enjoy.

What's Opera, Doc!!

I got this from here:

Absolutely brilliant production design!! Notice how every new color is subtly introduced in the previous shots before it takes over the entire screen and changes the mood. And with such a minimal color pallet!!

Scot, I know you have that episode. Think we can organize an informal screening in the Grad Lab some day?...or a formal one in Bradley hall, combined with a bunch of other Chuck Jonesy goodies!?

Uwe Heidschoetter
Good luck pronouncing his name! but he's an awesome artist/animator from Germany. I've never seen his animation, but his design sense is awesome.

Looking for Inspiration!

Hey kids,

Here's a new idea. Post a link to an artist that you like/enjoy/look to for inspiration. Any artist counts, it does not have to be animation related. Just post someone's work that you enjoy.

So I'll go first. This is a character designer that I worked with at Nickelodeon, on "The Mighty B!"

Chris Battle:

And here is the astounding caricaturist, Marlo Meekins:

I Like King-Kong

I've had a little bit of difficulty gleaming the point of this here blog. I mean, so you've got some monkeys, right? Aaand... some of them move. And most of them are cute. They've got hands for feet, that's a little creepy don'tyathink?
So this is what I drawr-ed for y'all after reading the blog description up top. Hope you enjoy, thanks for the inspiration!! ... !!! (I had to add a couple more exclamation points, you guys are really inspiring).

Touch my monkey...

Here's an old animation I did with my firend Mark chun. He did all the drawings in flash and I animated the elements. It was from a short we were working on called "The Monkey and the Monk". Never finished it, but we did get a few good animations out of it!

I'll post something strictly by me later!

I animated this in Flash when I was in France. Don't ask me why... I just did!
Never thought I'd actually find a place to share it where it wouldn't look completely ridiculous. Looks like it was MADE for this blog!..It's fate I tell ya!

'Sup peeps
Joining in the all the posting fun. Here's my "monkey" sketch.

And one more thing!

A quick message to post here. I'm looking for anyone (whose currently going to the Academy at the moment) who be interested in carrying on the club after this next semester. Let me know at my listed e-mail, and I show you what few ropes there are during this semester.

Thanks kids!

As this is the FIRST POST, how about everyone submit a drawing, animation, or sketch of their own work, so everyone can get to know each other. Later on we'll see about doing an official contest at some point. Hope everyone has fun with this! Here's a recent pic I did this Summer (2007), for a "Thank You " note to send folks. Been a bit of change in the design over the years. I'll have a new poster up soon!
The FIRST POST! And a look at the past, here's my first pairing of my Monkey, Mr. Scheckey, and his girl Friday, Maribelle. Back then, which was ....shit Fall 2005!, I had no idea they'd become my "iconic" characters. But, hey, if everyone keeps asking me about them, I guess there's something there.
